We who inhabit our beloved blue planet aspire to live in peace with ourselves, with one another, and within the shared home we inhabit. Yet a deluded minority seeks to control the whole of society for its own benefit, resorting to every form of violence: physical – with wars as the most extreme example – economic, political, racial, gender-based, religious, psychological. Power seems to lie in the hands of uncontrolled madmen who violate international law and everyone’s rights. Limited protest up to now seems useless or insufficient.
We are at a crossroads: either we continue to endure wars and suffering imposed upon us, or we rebel and unite to continue building a truly humane and supportive society, as thousands of us have been attempting separately. We must decide whether we continue adapting ourselves to systems built on fear, violence, and domination, or whether we are willing to confront them differently and collectively imagine another way forward.
We want to confront this situation collectively. We want to be the driving force behind a strong, powerful action, capable of opening up the future and setting a precedent—hopefully a historic one—that serves as a benchmark and has the greatest possible influence on a personal and social level.
Groups from diverse backgrounds are calling on citizens and organisations from around the world to send a decisive ‘signal’ for peace and nonviolence in Berlin, from 27 September to 2 October 2027.
This signal will be based on active peace and nonviolence as a central tool and the only way out of confrontation, destruction and senselessness. For we understand nonviolence not only as an ethical ideal and an attitude, but as a concrete personal and social practice, an effective political and cultural strategy. Nonviolent rebellion is not only about resisting destructive systems, but about refusing to reproduce them in ourselves and our movements.
We know, without a doubt, that nonviolence is not passive, weak, or simply symbolic. It is a force. One of the most powerful forces human beings have access to.
We will gather in Berlin to bear witness, exchange certainties and doubts, share non-violent experiences and peace actions across all fields, and gain collective strength to continue refining our action.
We have faith in human beings, in their strength, their generosity and their destiny. Let us move towards a new horizon, building new steps towards the Humanisation of the Earth.
